On the occasion of International Workers’ Day, which falls on the first of May each year, the Bahrain Free Labour Union Federation "Al hurr" extends its heartfelt congratulations and highest expressions of appreciation and gratitude to the workers of Bahrain, the Arab nation, and the world at large. We salute, with pride and respect, the noble sacrifices made by workers throughout history and their continued contributions, which remain the cornerstone of civilization-building and the foundation of comprehensive and sustainable development.

Celebrating International Workers’ Day is a significant milestone through which we reaffirm the central role of workers as the beating heart of the economy, the true architects of national progress, and the genuine guarantors of ongoing development. It is a day of tribute to every hand that inseminate, every arm that built, and every mind that innovated and created.

On this momentous occasion, the Bahrain Free Labour Union Federation expresses its deep pride in the royal support and care accorded to the Bahraini labor force by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain – may God preserve him – and the constant follow-up and guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect him. This support has elevated the status of workers, safeguarded their rights, and prioritized the development of labor legislation within the broader framework of the Kingdom’s comprehensive reform project.

Thanks to these royal directives and sincere national initiatives, Bahrain has achieved significant progress in protecting labor rights and strengthening the principles of decent work and social protection. However, these achievements come with greater responsibilities to continue our dedicated efforts to defend workers’ interests, safeguard their gains, and expand their economic, social, and cultural rights in line with local, regional, and global labor market developments. In this regard, the Bahrain Free Labour Union Federation reaffirms its unwavering commitment to its noble union principles and its full support for legitimate labor causes, chief among them:

Striving diligently to increase decent job opportunities for citizens by activating national workforce replacement programs and prioritizing national labor in all economic sectors.

Developing training and qualification policies to empower Bahraini workers to adapt to technological changes and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Enhancing occupational safety and health standards in all workplaces, and activating safety committees within institutions and companies in accordance with national legislation and relevant international conventions.

Continuing to advocate for improved retirement systems and ensuring a dignified life for retirees who have devoted years in service to the nation.

Supporting constructive social dialogue as the most effective path to addressing labor market challenges and achieving social justice and societal stability.

On this day, the Bahrain Free Labour Union Federation also sends a message of appreciation to Bahraini workers in all areas of production who have, in recent years, demonstrated exceptional national spirit and resilience in facing global economic challenges, thereby contributing through their dedication and competence to the continued growth of the national economy despite difficult circumstances.

As we commemorate International Workers’ Day, we honor the martyrs of the labor movement across the world who paid the ultimate price for the principles of union freedom, social justice, and human dignity. The struggle for labor rights does not end with current achievements—it is a continuous journey toward further victories, in a world where labor patterns are rapidly changing due to economic and technological shifts.

The Bahrain Free Labour Union Federation calls for the unity of the national union front and the strengthening of cooperation among all production stakeholders—government, workers, and employers—to build a fair and advanced work environment founded on a balance of rights and responsibilities, ready to meet future challenges, while rooted in our national identity and values.

In conclusion, the Bahrain  Free Labour Unions Federation renews its pledge and commitment on this occasion to remain the steadfast defender of workers’ rights, the sincere voice that expresses their aspirations, and the leading supporter of every initiative that serves their interests and enhances their status in society. We firmly believe that the dignity of the worker is the dignity of the nation, and that the progress of nations is measured by the advancement of their workers’ conditions.

A salute of reverence and respect to every working man and woman in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

A salute of gratitude to Arab workers and workers around the world on their international day.
